Artist: Keith Pearson
Over the past sixteen years, Keith Pearson, as Managing Director of The Theatre Company (TTC), has been responsible for some of the most dynamic and adventurous performance work which has been seen in Kenya.
He has been instrumental in the development of the devised work technique. Voice of a Dream (2002) KigeziNdoto (2006), Githaa (2006), Sauti Kimya (2009) and My Moving Home (2010), Shungwaaya (2012 and Mali in 2013) were developed through the technique of engaging the experiences of the performers.
Dance and music are fluidly combined with stories to produce an unique and satisfying performance. Because the stories are drawn from the performers, and the performers are rooted in and connected to society, public audiences find there is a strong connection to this material.
Keith is proud to be part of the Sanaa Ponyevu Initiative which is currently performing with the Special Unit of Mwiki Primary.
Keith is a former Steering Committee member of Arterial Network and a member of the Creative Economy Working Group.
Keith is proud to be an active mentor of some of Kenya’s finest creative talent. He is also active in the Film and TV Industry, appearing as an actor in Out of Africa, The Constant Gardener and a long list of local and international hits. He stars in the current Danish feature Kapringen (A Hijacking), which is about piracy in the Indian Ocean. He has been the Acting Coach for Heart of Fire (Germany) and Imani (Uganda).
He is the proprietor of the Karichota Arts Centre in the Mt. Kenya forest near Nanyuki and the proud father of Mo Wanjeri (of Yellow Light Machine music group) and William Maragua.
